Another successful student work was created on the premises of the National Centre of Robotics. The work was led by a member of the NCR – Ing. Ľuboš Chovanec, PhD. It is focused on robotic rehabilitation of the lower limbs, the KUKA IIWA robot was used. More in the video below.
Conventional rehabilitation includes a wide variety of therapeutic approaches, such as manual therapy, exercise programs, hydrotherapy, and more. Therapists in this field may use a variety of methods to improve a patient’s strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination, as well as to relieve pain. On average, a physiotherapist can take approximately 20-30 steps with a patient, and the physiotherapist must rest. Robotic rehabilitation eliminates the problem of fatigue of physiotherapists, so they can perform patient manipulation regularly, precisely and for longer time.
