The 2024 Robotics Award from the National Centre of Robotics was won by Martin Zayonc and Igor Višňovský, students of the Secondary School of Electrical Engineering in Prešov. Their “Soccer Robots” project received this recognition at the Science and Technology Festival organized by AMAVET.
The “Soccer Robots” project was created for the RoboCup Soccer Lightweight 2v2 competition, focusing on designing and implementing a robotic system capable of autonomous play without direct communication between the robots or external control. The system was optimized to improve individual movement and interaction with the ball based only on sensor data. The robots could detect and track the ball independently through simple algorithms and infrared sensors. Each robot was programmed to perform basic offensive and defensive tasks autonomously.
As the sponsor of this award, NCR supports young talents in robotics who push the boundaries of their autonomous systems. By presenting this award, NCR again reaffirms its commitment to supporting youth education in science and technology, inspiring future leaders in robotics and automation. Martin Zayonc and Igor Višňovský’s success reflects young innovators’ potential to achieve significant advancements in the field. NCR congratulates them on their achievement and appreciates the Science and Technology Festival for providing a platform where students can showcase and develop their skills.
