Students under our leadership participate in a research project focused on the detection and measurement of facial features for the diagnosis of respiratory diseases, especially within pediatric patients. The team led by prof. Duchoň is in charge of the automatic measurement of facial features and subsequent classification of symptoms of the disease based on these features. In the video below, you can see how such automatic nose detection and its measurement in point clouds takes place. The author of the method is a Ph.D. student in the field of Robotics and Cybernetics – Rastislav Hornák. In addition to our workplace, the Department of Mechatronics and Electrical Engineering of the University of Žilina, the Jessenius Faculty of Medicine of Comenius University in Martin, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Technical University in Košice, and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication Technologies of the Brno University of Technology participate in the research.
